The 48.18 million euros ($63.4 million) Berlusconi declared in 2011 was some 8 million more than in 2010, and 32 times more than his successor. Prime Minister Mario Monti declared 1.5 million euros in revenue.
According to Forbes magazine Berlusconi is Italy's sixth-richest man with a fortune of $5.9 billion, which puts him at 169th place in the world.
Berlusconi stepped down as prime minister in November amid rising pressure on Italy in financial markets, and former European commissioner Monti took over a the head of a technocratic government.
