Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Three ships namely MOL Grandeur, Andrey Pervozvonny and Arietta carrying Containers, Palm Oil and Coal took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively during

last 24 hours, said a report issued by Port Qasim Authority (PQA), here on Thursday.

Meanwhile four more ships Maersk Bentonville, Beem, Aziz Torlak and Fortune Hero carrying Containers, Bitumen, Chemicals and Palm Kernel also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during last the same period.

A total off nine ships were occupying PQA berths to load/offload Containers, Cement, Coal, Soya Bean, LNG, Palm Oil and Diesel Oil respectively.

Out of them three Container Vessels, Maersk Pittsburg, E.R Tokyo and Grandeur, and an Oil tanker Al-Soor-II sailed out to sea on today morning.

Cargo volume of 154,755 tonnes, comprising 86,237 tonnes imports cargo and 68,518 tonnes export cargo, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,589 Containers, (TEUs), (746 TEUs imports and 2,843 TEUs exports) was handled at the port.

Four ships OOCL Washington, Maersk Bentenville, Aziz Torlaq and Constantinos carrying Containers, General Cargo and Diesel oil are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-1 and FOTCO respectively on Thursday.

While container Vessel `AS Aries' and General Cargo carrier `BBC Confidence' are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day, and another General Cargo carrier `Ashiya Star' is due to arrive on Friday.
