CDWP approves 19 schemes
The meeting of CDWP was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Chairman Planning Commission. The Joint Chief Economist Planning and Development Division gave a brief presentation on the overall economic situation of the country followed by a presentation by Chief Economist, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the proposed Growth Strategy of their government. According to a press release, out of 68 schemes on the agenda, 32 schemes pertaining to transport, communication, health, energy, higher education and agriculture sectors were considered. Out of 13 schemes of transport and communication sectors, six schemes costing Rs2.7 billion were approved while four schemes costing Rs33.4 billion were recommended for approval of ECNEC. Three schemes costing Rs2.6 billion were deferred for further scrutiny by various committees. Out of six schemes of health sector, five schemes costing Rs1.7 billion were approved while one scheme costing Rs.2.2 billion was recommended for approval of ECNEC. Out of 10 schemes of higher education sector, seven schemes costing Rs 3.7 billion were approved while three schemes costing Rs.2.3 billion were deferred for further scrutiny by a committee. For the energy sector, one scheme costing Rs900 million was approved, while one scheme costing Rs1.8 billion was deferred for further scrutiny.
