The International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared England fast bowler Liam Plunkett after allegations of ball tempering during the second One Day International (ODI) against Pakistan at Southhampton.

“The ICC has confirmed that the match officials are comfortable there was no attempt by Liam Plunkett to change the condition of the ball or any evidence of this on the over-by-over examinations of the ball throughout Saurday's ODI clash in Southampton,” the international cricket body tweeted.

The statement comes after video clips of Liam Plunkett scratching the ball went viral on social media, raising questions about ball-tampering.

Pakistan lost the high scoring thriller after they just fell short of 12 runs while chasing a mammoth target of 373.
