Afridi clarifies India’s Tendulkar is on his all-time best World XI list

Amid all the controversies surrounding former Pakistan all rounder Shahid Afridi’s autobiography ‘Game Changer’, the cricketer has accused media of ‘mislead reporting’ and clarified that Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s name was in fact on his all-time best World XI.

“Sad to say that misled reporting from media led to negative hype about Game Changer. Here are my three XIs (Pakistan, India-Pakistan & World). Media reported that Sachin Tendulkar wasn't on my list. How couldn't he be?!” tweeted Afridi while releasing the excerpts from his book, as well.

In his autobiography, Afridi has also revealed that he actually used Tendulkar’s bat to score the then record 100 off 37 balls back in 1996. The all rounder said that Tendulkar asked Pakistan’s former speedster Waqar Younis to take his bat to Sialkot, known for its sports goods, and get a custom-made replica manufactured there.

“But guess what Waqar did before he took it to Sialkot? He gave it to me, before I went in to bat. So effectively, that first century in Nairobi by Shahid Afridi was made with Sachin Tendulkar’s best bat. Go figure,” Afridi wrote.

The century was the fastest ever in ODIs and came against Sri Lanka and is one of Shahid Afridi’s most memorable cricketing memories.
