The upcoming One Day International (ODI) series between Pakistan and England is an opportunity for the likes of fast bowler Mohammad Amir and Asif Ali to cement their positions in the Pakistan squad, says former captain Ramiz Raja.

“There will be a lot of focus on Mohammad Amir over how he bowls after the speedster failed to make into the World Cup squad, he can make a comeback,” Raja said at Ramiz Speaks

“Similar is the case with Asif Ali, who has got the opportunity after Shoaib Malik would be available in the second ODI, so Asif is probable to play in the first ODI and show off his skills because Pakistan is weak when it comes to power hitting and Asif Ali fills that deficiency,” he added.

Raja further added that the Pakistani bowling line would need to adopt defensive strategies against the aggressive England batting. “If Pakistan want to beat England, then they would need to take wickets, grab catches and post over 300 runs on the scoreboard,” he said.

Pakistan is set to face off against hosts England in the first One Day International (ODI) today at Oval.
