Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman Kamran Akmal has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for neglecting senior fast bowlers and picking a newbie in Mohammad Hasnain for the upcoming World Cup 2019.

“You invested three years on Usman Shinwari, Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir but at the time of the main event [World Cup 2019], you picked up a new guy [Mohammad Hasnain]. How would these players feel as they performed for years but when the main event comes and it is the time to show off their skills in front of the world, they are not selected,” said Akmal, while talking to local media.

The wicketkeeper batsman also voiced his support for fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who failed to make into the 15-members World Cup squad for Pakistan. “Amir is a kind of bowler that can topple any side on a given day, as he did in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2017. So one should not be dropped from the side for not performing on one or two matches,” said Akmal.

Earlier, Akmal criticized the cricket management for ignoring him for the upcoming World Cup.

“The selectors, coach and the captain should look at these youngsters [performing in domestic circuit]… never mind this is part of life, and I am optimistic to make a comeback again,” Akmal said.
