Police claims arrest of 293 accused in three days

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam on Thursday was informed in a report that as many as 293 accused including absconders, proclaimed offenders and others were arrested in last three days during snap checking and patrolling from across the province.

The report, presented to IGP in a high-level meeting and was compiled by the Additional IGP (Operations), also added that police from 298 arrested accused also recovered 38 pistols, 02 shotguns, 02 hand grenades, 26 mobile phones, 3 cars, 24 motorbikes, over 50 kg charas and gutka and other drugs and hazardous items.

The arrests and seizures were made through 4104 snap checking or patrolling points across Sindh.

During the video conference meeting attended by all Additional IGPs, Deputy IGPs, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and other senior officers, the IGP instructed to enhance the security before the start of holy month of Ramdan. He directed the officers to make the security measures result-oriented.

Sindh Police Chief asked to ensure checking of pillion riders of motorbikes, however he said the women and children shall be exempted in this order.

Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam directed the officers concerned to ensure coordination with managements of mosques, Imam Bargahs and other religious places and beef up security in shopping malls, bazaars, markets and other public places.
