Injury hit Bangladesh announce squad for World Cup 2019

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, scheduled to be held in England and Wales in coming weeks.  

The squad will be lead by senior fast bowler Mashrafe Mortaza, whereas star all rounder Shakib Al Hasan join as the vice captain. The Bangladesh batting top order will be lead by veteran opener Tamim Iqbal alongside young guns Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar. Whereas, senior batsman Mahmudullah and wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim be forming the middle order.

Pacer Abu Jayed and middle order batsman Mossaddek Hossian have also been added to the squad. Meanwhile, batsman Imrul Kayes and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has missed out in the squad.

Speedster Mustafizur Rahman has been named in the squad as well, despite suffering an ankle injury during a training recently, adding to Bangladesh’s injury woes ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.

As per media reports, Rehman could be sidelined for two weeks and could miss the initial stages of a pre-tournament training camp.

Bangladesh has been engulfed in injuries with key players including Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah and fast bowler Rubel Hossain suffering from various forms on injuries.
