Pakistan middle order batsman Umar Akmal, who is known for his controversies on and off the field, has slammed his critics saying that they should not comment on his personal life.

“To all the senior cricketers that have played alongside me, and the way they come on to the media discussing me, I just want to tell them that I too know a lot of things about them as well. Every player has a respect that should not be damaged, they can criticize me on my performance I am not against that but they should not hit my personal life,” said Umar, while talking to local media.

The statement comes after Umar was panned by critics as he was fined 20 percent of his match fee during a series against Australia that concluded earlier this month, after a video clip circulating on social media showed Umar attending a concert and dancing in Dubai.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released a statement then and said Umar had apologised after team manager Talat Ali charged him with breaching the team´s curfew and going to a club, a violation of the rules for tours.

Meanwhile, talking about his exclusion from the 23 probables squad announced by the PCB, for the upcoming World Cup, Umar said that he still has a lot cricket days left in him.

“My job is to perform like all other players, the rest depends on the chief selector, cricket captain and the head coach, if I am not in their plan then I don’t mind it because I still have a lot of cricket left in me,” he said.
