RECORDER REPORT: KSE close of day

The daily volumes at ready counter increased to 552.793 million shares, highest after March 2006.

The benchmark KSE-100 index surged by 81.35 points and closed at the level of 13,352.74 points.

The market opened on a strong positive note and the index breached 13,400 psychological level to hit 13,425.65 points intra-day high, up 154.26 points. However, profit taking in late hours minimized the intra-day gains.

Due to aggressive participation of both local and foreign investors and across the board fresh buying, daily trading volumes increased to six-year highest level of 552.793 million shares as compared to 358.177 million shares traded on Thursday.

Total market capitalization increased by Rs 24 billion to Rs 3.472 trillion. Of the total 367 active stocks, 205 closed in positive and 108 in negative while the value of 54 scrips remained unchanged.

NIB Bank was the volume leader with 86.580 million shares and gained Re 0.96 to close at Rs 2.85. In the other banking sector stocks, SilkBank and JS Bank increased by Re 0.43 and Re 1.00 to close at Rs 2.75 and Rs 6.74 with 22.041 million shares and 17.361 million shares respectively. TRG Pakistan increased by Re 0.97 to close at Rs 3.62 with 44.890 million shares.
