Twitter reacts after Umar Akmal, Wahab Riaz axed from World Cup probable squad
Senior players Wahab Riaz and Umar Akmal failed to make into the list of 23 probables for the World Cup squad, which would undergo fitness tests to be held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on April 15 and 16. Umar, who passed 30 three times against Australia without going onto a half-century, failed to make into the list. The 28 years old is an ODI veteran, with over 3000 runs in 121 ODI appearances, and demonstrated his form with scores of 136* and 99 in his most recent two innings in the Pakistan Cup. Whereas, Wahab hasn't played an ODI since 2017 but has represented Pakistan in the past two World Cups. The speedster was lethal with the ball at the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) for his franchise the Peshawar Zalmi and took a five wicket haul in his latest match at the Pakistan Cup.
