Ashwin should drink Lassi to keep cool says Pakistan ex-captain
Indian off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is a hot topic these days, and unfortunately not for good reasons, after he was involved in the ‘Mankad’ dismissal of Jos Buttler at the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Facing the wrath of cricketers and pundits, Ashwin is not in the best of moods that was evident in the match last night against Kolkata Knight Riders. Pakistan ex-captain Ramiz Raja suggested the off spinner to drink ‘lassi’ to cool him off. “Ashwin should show calmness, and if he is unable to do so then she should drink some lassi too calm himself,” said Raja, while talking at Ramiz Speaks. MCC, the cricket lawmakers on Wednesday said that the run-out was indeed contrary to the spirit of the game. "Having extensively reviewed the incident again, and after further reflection, we don’t think it was within the spirit of the game," MCC laws manager Fraser Stewart said, quoted The Telegraph. MCC’s reasoning was that the pause between the moment Ashwin reached the crease and the moment of delivery was unusually long. As per the law, if the non-striker has left the crease at the moment the bowler would “normally” be expected to release the ball, he is entitled to try to run him out. "We believe the pause was too long between the time Ashwin reached the crease and the moment it was reasonable to expect the ball would be delivered,” Stewart said.
