Government focuses to generate skilled labour force

Reforms are underway to bring education system in sync with market requirements as well as prepare skilled labour force in collaboration with international institutions”, said the minister while addressing the “TVET related inter-provincial ministerial conference”, organised by National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).

The minister further said linkages have been established with the chambers of commerce and industry for the purpose to industry-academe gap. Federal governments are giving priority to quality education in order to ensure human resource development in line with modern requirements.

He further said the government is also focusing on enhancing higher education quality as well as ensuring its job market relevance. The country's future lies in providing marketable skills to youth and enabling them to earn respectable livelihood.

Mahmood said that Annual Development Plan is being worked out to ensure imparting of training to more and more people in different skills. Training institutes throughout the country will be converted into centers of excellence to boost their performance.

The minister further said that five centers of excellence will be set up in all the provinces. A National Skill University is also being set up and its charter has already been worked out.

Besides, he said a Centre of Hospitality is being established with the cooperation of Turkey to promote tourism sector.

Education Minister said the federal government is working in consonance with the provincial governments to upgrade education according to market needs.
