China Daily, the top English language newspaper of China, published Ambassador Khan's Interview on the occasion of the all-important annual parliamentary sessions of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and National People's Congress (NPC).
The NPC and CPPCC sessions will focus on continued economic reform and development of harmonious international relations, Khan said when asked to comment on subjects to be focused in these meetings.
In the domestic realm, the two bodies are expected to take far reaching decisions that would raise the living standards of the people of China, enhance social security, promote sustainable development, and further stimulate economic growth, Khan said adding "All these decisions will have salutary impact on the world economy as well".
Masood Khan said the Chinese leaders have taken a series of measures to meet the twin challenges of rapid economic growth and maintaining the integrity of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, he observed while giving his point of view on a question regarding current major challenges China is faced with.
The Chinese people, under the leadership of the CPC and the two Congresses, have always seen these challenges as opportunities and produced excellent results, he added.
Ambassador Khan pointed out that the other challenge for China and for the entire region is to maintain peace, stability, and security in the region. Social and economic development can flourish only in an atmosphere of peace and stability.
China has made impressive strides towards that goal and helped the international community in moving in that direction, he observed.
