"Media is one of the important pillars of democracy and positive relation between media and political parties is necessary to keep the democratic process of the country intact", he said during his visit to National Press Club (NPC) here on Sunday. He, however asked the media authorities to avoid becoming part of any propaganda which is harmful for the process of democracy and integrity of the country. Malik said that in Balochistan, a tension was being created by following a propaganda but there was nothing real. "I urge all the mediapersons to avoid filing any stories related to Balochistan issue which are based on propaganda. Before filing such news stories they must verify them from the interior ministry or Inspector General of Balochistan", he added. Speaking about the problems of the journalists, the federal minister said that to solve all the problems including security, salaries and others, the representatives from Interior and information ministry, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Wage Board and the respective newspapers and T.V. channels would hold a meeting soon to solve such issues. He said that he would talk to the owners of the media groups for the resolution of such problems. He said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had now become the leading party in the Senate and the party is now come to a position of making the government for the next five-year term. "Despite propaganda made against the government through media, the PPP succeed to survive." he said. To a question, he said that the Baloch leaders who are currently outside of the country would be received in Pakistan with honour and all criminal cases against them would be withdrawn. Answering another question, Malik denied the claims that US nationals were being allowed to come to Pakistan without visa. He said the diplomats were not allowed to keep weapons with them. On the occasion, the Federal Minister congratulated the newly elected governing body of NPC. The minister also announced to donate Rs. 300,000 from his own pocket for National Press Club Islamabad. Acting President Asim Ali Rana, General Secretary Shehryar Ahmad and other members of NPC welcomed the Minister on his visit to National Press Club. Shehryar said that the pledges made by the Prime minister for the building of NPC should be fulfilled immediately.
