One policeman killed in suicide blast at Charsadda

A policeman on security duty was killed in the blast while seven people including members Provincial Assembly, Sikandar Hayat Sherpao (son of Aftab Sherpao) and Muhammad Ali Khan sustained injuries in the blast and rushed to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.

Hospital sources informed that Sikandar Sherpao sustained slight injury at his right hand and was discharged after first-aid treatment.

The blast occurred near the vehicle of the Aftab Sherpao when he and his son were leaving the venue of the public meeting. The bomber in a bid to hit the vehicle detonated himself at a very close distance to the PPP-S leader but he luckily survived.

The vehicle of PPP-S Chairman, who is also former Interior Minister was badly damaged in the blast.

The BDS officials said that five to six kilogram explosives were used in the attack.

The Taliban spokesman has accepted responsibility for the suicide attack, police said.

This was the third suicide attempt on the former interior minister in Charsadda district. In the earlier two blasts over hundred people were killed.
