Federal Secretary for Human Rights Saeed Ahmed Alvi accompanied Fiza Gilani, who is leading the Pakistan delegation to the session. A press release of the Pakistan Mission to the UN said Bachelet, a former president of Chile, expressed appreciation for the recent legislative work in Pakistan concerning women's rights and their empowerment. She expressed the desire to further strengthen UN Women's partnership with Pakistan. Fiza recalled Pakistan's strong support for and constructive contribution to the creation of UN Women as well as the active role as a member of the UN Women Executive Board in its first formative year, the press release said. She highlighted the progress made by Pakistan in the areas of women's rights, empowerment of women, and political participation of women in recent years. Fiza Gilani emphasized the need for UN Women to continue to support Pakistan's development priorities.
