The etching, valued at $65,000, was stolen from the Casa Museo Negret and MIAMP museum in Popayan last October.

Police recovered it when a man tried to sell it to a commercial establishment in Popayan, said a press release from city officials. The suspect was arrested.

After the theft, authorities in Popayan offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to recovery of the etching.

The etching, untitled and dated 1930, disappeared from a wall of the museum where it was on display. It depicts the Greek god of wine Dionysus with a woman in his arms.

The etching was donated to the museum in 2004 by Colombian sculptor Edgar Negret, who was born in Popayan in 1920.
