The in-camera meeting of the committee was chaired by Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho to discuss the "internal security situation with specific reference to Balochistan".
The committee was briefed on the overall security situation of the country and especially the situation in Balochistan.
The intelligence agencies apprised the committee of the history of unrest, involvement of foreign interference, the reasons of the present situation in Balochistan and the steps taken by the agencies to resolve the issue.
The members of the committee inquired about the recovery of missing persons and the role of the agencies in it.
The committee was informed that different groups were involved in kidnapping the people and denied the involvement of Pakistan Army in it and the killing of Baloch people.
The committee recommended that: the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package should be implemented immediately in letter and spirit and the quarterly report of the implementation status may be shared with the parliamentarians;
The law enforcement agencies should not overstep their domain/mandate. More efforts should be made for the recovery of missing persons.
The visits of foreigners to Balochistan and their activities should be regularized and monitored properly.
The committee also condemned the yesterday's incident of brutal killing of 18 people in Kohistan and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
The meeting was attended by Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, Mrs. Shagufta Sadiq, Begum Ishrat Ashraf, Syed Hamid Saeed Kazmi, Dr. Talat Mahesar, Syed Haider Ali Shah, Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Jawad Hussain, Nawabzada Malik Amad Khan, Capt (R) Rai Ghulam Mujtaba Khural and Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan.
Additional Secretaries, Ministry of Defence and Cabinet Division, Director General (NCMC), Ministry of Interior, Director General, Intelligence Bureau, Home Secretary, Government of Balochistan, AIG (Sindh), DIG Special Branch (Balochistan) and other relevant officers were present in the meeting.
