"We have to go for Liquified Natural Gas (LPG) to over energy shortage," he said while addressing the Executive committee meeting of LPG Distributors Association. He said the ministry would hold talks with all stakeholders to modify the LPG policy with an aim to provide gas at reasonable price. He said it was the responsibility of government to cater to needs of people including those residing in remote areas for which LPG is the only suitable and viable fuel to deal with the current energy shortages. Asim said there was need to introduce price rationalization and targeted subsidy in gas sector for poor people, adding use of gas on subsidized sectors was harmful for the economy of the country. He said marketing of LPG through Sui-Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui-Southern Gas Company limited (SSGCL) would remove monopoly of few people. President LPG Distributor Association Irfan Khokhar on this occasion assured full support to new LPG policy and its marketing through SNGPL and SSGCL.
