"Our consul general in Karachi confirms that no South Koreans were kidnapped," a senior foreign ministry official was quoted by a Korean news agency.

However, three Pakistanis working at the Korean-run hospital in Karachi were confirmed to have been kidnapped while they were driving on their way to work earlier in the day, the ministry official said.

"We are trying to figure out how the incident happened," the official said, but added it was not believed to have targeted the Korean-run hospital.
