West Indian batting maestro Chris Gayle, has finally broken the record of Shahid Afridi after becoming the player with most sixes in international cricket after he hit 12 sixes in the 1st ODI against England on Wednesday.

Chris Gayle Gayle now has 488 international sixes, 12 more than ‘Boom Boom’ Afridi.

Third on that list is former New Zealand wicket-keeper-batsman Brendon McCullum, who has hit 398 international sixes. Whereas, former Sri Lanka opener Sanath Jayasuriya is fourth on the list with 352 international sixes.

India's Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni come in fifth and sixth on the list with 349 and 348 international sixes, respectively followed by AB de Villiers, who has 328 international sixes.

Gayle who had announced his retirement from ODIs after the end of 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England & Wales, scored a blistering knock of 135 of 129 deliveries, featuring 12 sixes and three boundaries.
