Raja disappointed with Yasir Shah over Lahore Qalandars’ loss at PSL4 opener

Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 opening match proved to be a thriller after reigning champion Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets at the Dubai International cricket stadium on Thursday.

Despite enjoying a strong start, Qalandars were unable to capitalize on it and ended their inning on a score of 171 runs, losing their last six wickets while leaking only 40 runs. The Qalandars bowling line too share a similar story as after picking up wickets early on, the bowling attack failed to restrict the United’s charge.

Pakistan former captain and cricket commentator Ramiz Raja was particularly disappointed by leg spinner Yasir Shah, as the former batsman was of the opinion that the experience leggie was unable to create breakthroughs when needed.

“Yasir Shah with the talent he has could have been a wicket taker, but he bowled pretty flatly with unneeded pace, it looked like that Shah was too concern with economy rather than taking wickets. This is where the Qalandars faltered, and they should learn if they are unable to take wickets in the middle of the innings, they cannot succeed,” said Raja, at Ramiz Speaks.

The Lahore Qalandars would now face their arch rivals Karachi Kings in their second match on Saturday.
