Pakistan former captain Wasim Akram has termed all rounder Faheem Ashraf a ‘match winner’ for his side, if the youngster improves his bowling a bit.

”The one Pakistan cricketer I want to see perform is Faheem Ashraf, because he’s been the all-rounder Pakistan are looking for. He just has to improve his bowling a bit and be consistent with the bat. He can be a match-winner,” wrote Akram, quoted Times of India.

This is not the first time that the legendary fast bowler has voiced his support for Ashraf. Earlier Akram has questioned the country’s cricket authorities over what they want to make out of bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a good start to his international career, and with his ability to bowl fast and decent batting quickly emerged as a potential replacement for the likes of Abdul Razzaq and Azhar Mahmood. However, as of late  Ashraf has not been a consistent performer and remains an on and off feature in the Pakistan cricket squad.

Meanwhile, Akram talking about his pick for the World Cup, selected India as his ‘firm favourites’.  “Among the teams that are involved in the cricket World Cup, Pakistan has always been an outfit that people loved to watch and follow. You can never write them off. India looks firm favourites for me. New Zealand are the dark horses, but Pakistan is right up there,” Akram wrote.
