Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has questioned the country’s cricketing authorities over the non-selection of fast bowler Junaid Khan.

“[Before the South Africa tour] we were told that Junaid was unfit, but he is playing Bangladesh Premier League [BPL] in Bangladesh. So it seems that the team management doesn’t want Junaid in the squad,” said Latif, while talking to local media.

Junaid last represented Pakistan internationally against New Zealand in a One Day International  (ODI) back in November last year. “I will not only blame the management but also the selection committee as well. The PCB should issue a press release, providing reasons on why Junaid Khan is out of the team,” added Latif.

The former captain was of the view that fast bowler has always performed whenever got the chance to do so, both in home and foreign conditions. “He has always performed, if [he has] not been able to take wickets, he’s been economical. So being out of the team in this manner is unjustified,” added Latif.

After being dropped off from the tour of South Africa, Khan has been on a run at the ongoing BPL, representing the Khulna Titans the fast bowler has so far claimed 11 wickets in six matches at the T20 tournament.
