Bat, ball signed by PM to be auctioned in South Africa for dam fundraising

The Government of Pakistan has announced to auction a bat and ball signed by Prime Minister Imran Khan in South Africa, as part of its campaign to raise funds for the Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

As per local media reports, PTI Senator and Chairman Standing Committee on Info Broadcasting & Heritage, Faisal Javed Khan, announced the South African leg of the dam fundraising campaign. The senator informed that they have also invited the Pakistan cricket team, including Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Hassan Ali, Shadab Khan, Imam-ul-Haq and Usman Shinwari in the fund raising event.

The Pakistan cricket team is currently present in South Africa and will conclude their tour on February 6.

The senator applauded the passion of overseas Pakistanis and their contributions towards the dam funds terming it 'really commendable'. He also urged the Pakistani diaspora residing in South Africa to actively participate in the event. “The time isn’t far when Pakistan’s water crisis will be curbed,” he said.

It is pertinent to inform that the Supreme Court of Pakistan launched a fund for the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams back in July last year.
