The West Windies women cricket team has arrived in Karachi for three Women's Twenty20 Internationals starting 31 January, marking the first visit by their team to the country in 15 years.

"I'm pleased we can bring back cricket to Pakistan, because it's really important. If we had found ourselves in this position, I believe one of the teams would step up and try to help us" said Merissa Aguilleira after the squad's arrival in Karachi, quoted ICC.

Excitement is high in the squad led by stand-in captain Merissa Aguilleira, with the players keen to do their bit to bring cricket back to Pakistan.

"We have a motto, two words our coach has given us: adapt and overcome. That is what we are trying to do," said the captain. "It is really difficult adapting in such quick time, but we are professional cricketers and we are willing and raring to go. We are excited for this tour."

The three T20 Internationals are scheduled to be played from January 31 to February 3 at the Southend Club in Karachi. This will mark the resumption of women’s international cricket in Pakistan since they hosted Bangladesh for two T20is and as many ODIs in September-October 2015.

Following the t20 international series, Pakistan and West Indies move to Dubai for three ODIs that will be part of the 2017-21 ICC women’s championship.
