This was stated by Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar while talking to media after his meeting with the visiting Iranian Deputy Minister Abbas Ghobadi at his residence here Thursday.
Qamar said Iran will also import 200,000 ton of rice from Pakistan and added that today's (Thursday) meeting is held in connection with the decision taken by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad last week.
He said that both the leaders had decided to further expand trade between the two neighbours and Islamic countries.
Qamar asked the managing director Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO) Maj Gen (rtd) Sohail Shafkat to hold talks with Iranian Deputy Minister to discuss modalities and details for the export of Pakistani wheat.
Speaking on the occasion Ghobadi said that Pakistani rice was very popular in Iran and it is used in every festival and special occasions.
He said that the delegation wants to visit the storage facilities of wheat in the country to examine its quality and specifications.
It was decided that Iranian delegation will have a meeting with the managing director PASSCO on Friday to further discuss export of wheat and PASSCO will present samples of wheat to Iranian Deputy Commerce Minister for examination.
