An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent on Tuesday Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Chief Khadim Hussain Rizvi and others on a judicial remand.

The TLP leader and others were presented before the court during the hearing today. Security outside the court was strict where a huge supporters of Rizvi had gathered. The ATC sent the six people on judicial remand, local media reported.

Earlier in January, the ATC granted police a 20-day physical remand of Rizvi and others. They all have been accused of staging countrywide protests and also delivering hate speeches against state institutions.

The TLP leader was taken on protective custody on November 23 after staging violent countrywide protests. The TLP was among the many who protested the acquittal of Asia Bibi who was sentenced to death in a blasphemy case. The TLP leader had called his workers to stage a protest at Faizabad. However, he was taken into custody two days before the protest.
