Pakistan former captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram, has asked the cricket authorities why there are no ‘mystery spinner’ in Pakistan.

“Pakistan does not have a mystery spinner, previously we have two greats one was Saqlain Musgtaq and the other one was Saeed Ajmal.  At the moment Pakistan cricket team does not have an off spinner, we have only one i.e. Bilal Asif, who is playing Test cricket,” said Akram, while talking to local media.

The former captain urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to look into the matter. “We only have a tight arm and a left arm leg spinner, so I think the PCB and the authorities should look into the situation, as to why there is dearth of off spinners, and where to find them. There is no shortage of talent in Pakistan, but we don’t have a mystery spinner, whereas, Afghanistan has three i.e. Mujib ur Rehman, Zahir Khan and Rashid Khan. So it is a matter of concern,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan after a one side Test series, is involved in a five one-day internationals (ODI) against South Africa, with the first ODI to be played at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
