Pakistan former captain Mohammad Yousuf has said that he was disappointed by Yasir Shah over the leggie’s inability to take wickets during the ongoing tour of South Africa.

“I was particularly shocked with Yasir Shah, as he was not able to do anything here [South Africa], being one of the best spinners in the world and boosting several records. I believe he didn’t trouble any batsman,” said Yousuf, while talking to local media.

Shah was only able to take one wicket in the two Tests he played against South Africa, diluting Pakistan’s bowling attack considerably.

Yousuf, hailed among the best batsmen of Pakistan, was also of the view that Yasir’s flop show must have irked captain Sarfraz Ahmed, as he was emphasizing on the leg spinner for breakthroughs. Prior to the series, skipper Sarfraz termed Yasir as his trump card against South Africa, a side that they have managed to win only two times in 12 attempts on away soil.

“Here, the conditions are different but we do have a world-class spinner. He took 200 wickets in 33 Tests and we know South Africa haven't played a top-quality legspinner in three years. So we have an advantage, we have Yasir Shah, and hopefully they will struggle against him," said Sarfraz.

With South Africa already achieving an unassailable lead of 2-0, Pakistan would be aiming to save themselves from a 3-0 whitewash.
