Wasim Akram calls for keeping Sarfraz as skipper in all formats

Former Pakistan captain and legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram has come in defence of the under pressured Sarfraz Ahmed, saying that the skipper should be given more time.

The Pakistan cricket captain has been under severe criticism from all corners after recent lackluster performance by the team, which was made worse as the skipper himself has not been in the form for quite some time now.

“This has been the case from Asia Cup from cricket lovers and media who are entitled to their opinions. In my view, if you feel that you have someone who can takeover captaincy from Sarfraz then tell me his name, if that name is hidden then I won’t know about it, but doing this for the sake of changing the captain is not fair on Sarfraz or the team as well"said Akram, while talking to local media.

The former skipper applauded Sarfraz for his contributions, saying that he won us the Champions Trophy, and should be given a chance in Tests as well. "Yes, there is stress when captaining a side but then many captains have lead in all three formats without a problem so in my opinion we should stick with Sarfraz," said Akram.

Talking about the tour of South Africa, Akram opined that the conditions out there were just too difficult to cope for the Pakistani batsmen. "You can't really blame our batsmen as they would have put in their best efforts but sometimes when the pitch is difficult to play on, then the idea is to play with care and not lose your wickets," said Akram.
