MPCL raises its hockey team

Realizing the significance and transformative power of sports in the development of Corporate Culture and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Company, the management of MPCL established a Sports Department in March 2018. Headed by eminent sports managers of national and international repute and guided by the vision of the Managing Director MPCL, Lieutenant-General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmad (Retd), the Mari Petroleum raised its men hockey team after following a transparent selection process under the supervision of great Olympian Manzoor Ul Hassan Senior.
A hockey team of 26 young and promising players are now getting training at Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium Islamabad under the coaching of best national coaches, so that the team can participate at National level tournaments in near future.
The purpose of raising the hockey team is to support the national game through CSR initiative of MPCL, so that physically fit and technically correct players can be provided to the national hockey pool.
Besides hockey, MPCL is sponsoring the young talent in squash under the age of 17 years, so that future champions can be developed to revive squash in Pakistan.
Besides the sponsorship of hockey and squash players, the management of MPCL strongly realizes the importance of sports in developing a comprehensive corporate culture, where departments and individuals gel together for the attainment of corporate goals.
Keeping this aim in mind, MPCL organized men and women Table Tennis and Badminton Championships followed by Inter Departmental Volleyball and football Championships during the year 2018. The year 2019 sports calendar of MPCL has many interesting sports events to offer, including outdoor activities like campings and adventure sports for the employees.
MPCL has taken the initiative of supporting the dying culture of sports in Pakistan by promoting internal and external sports activities. The trend set by the MPCL in the Corporate Sports is just the beginning for the others to follow and promote sports in the country through corporate support.-PR
