Updated 04 Jan, 2019

The Supreme Court  (SC) summoned on Friday the chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Javed Iqbal in the case pertaining to the construction of a hospital in Islamabad.

A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, resumed the hearing of the case pertaining to land allotted for the construction of a hospital. During the hearing, the bench inquired the Capital Development Authority (CDA) about the progress made to build a hospital.

The CDA representative replied that there was no progress as NAB had initiated an inquiry after an application regarding the construction of the hospital had been filed, local media reported.

The CJP expressed his ire and remarked that on receiving a single petition the bureau starts investigating pole and disrespect them."Is everyone except NAB a thief?" The Chief Justice added that there is one NAB official who is known for blackmailing people and misusing authority.

The CJP then summoned the NAB chairman to his chambers and warned that Iqbal would not be granted exemption from the SC.
