12 Dec, 2018

Addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club here on Wednesday, the association's patron Zulfiqar Yousfani said Sindh contributed 70 percent to the country's total gas production.

"Only 30 percent of the gas produced in Sindh is used in the province while the rest is shared with the other provinces," said Yousfani.

He claimed that around 40,000 workforce employed at 650 CNG stations across the province would suffer because of the suspension.

He said that tens of thousands of public transport and private vehicles would be affected by the suspension.

Yousfani claimed that the owners of the CNG stations had invested Rs.80 billion to Rs. 100 billion to set up those stations.

"The CNG owners are worried about future of their businesses in view of the irregular supply of the fuel," he said.

He said a delegation of the association would try to meet the federal petroleum minister on his upcoming visit to Karachi.

Chairman Sindh CNG Association Mumtaz Jatoi and other office bearers of the association were also present.
