Kiws put their heads together to take on Yasir Shah’s challenge

New Zealand batting line is preparing plans to take on the challenge of leg spinner Yasir Shah, who left the Kiwis batting reeling in the second Test match.

"From a batting point of view you just have to be so precise and clear with your batting plan, especially against Yasir Shah who was outstanding," McMillan said, quoted ESPNcricinfo. "He's going to test you early on, he's going to test that defence, so your defence has to be so tight, has to be so spot on, because if you make a mistake it's pretty vital over here,” the batting coach added.

McMillan was optimistic that the batsmen are learning to take down Yasir. “However, the batsmen need to learn a bit quicker and get it right, I guess, in that first innings of the third Test,” he said.

Talking about what made Yasir so difficult to tackle, McMillan said it was the ‘drop and drift’ similar to the likes of Shane Warne, which made him so difficult to face .

"Right up there, in terms of quality," McMillan said of Yasir's bowling in Dubai. "The drop and the drift that he was able to generate, especially in that first innings, in that spell, was as good as I've seen, and that was one of the things that made Shane Warne so difficult to face, that drift, and we saw that with a couple of dismissals that he bowled - the likes of the Taylor dismissal, that late drop and drift,” said the batting coach.

Pakistan beat the Kiwis in the second Test match by an inning and 16 runs, on the back of leg spinner Yasir Shah record breaking 14-wickets haul. With the series hanging in the balance 1-1, the third deciding Test would be played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on December 3.
