Ali Tareen, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Jahangir Tareen has shown interest in purchasing the newly named Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise the ‘Sixth Team’ in the coming month.

“I have completed the initial work for a tender for PSL 4, if we win the rights to the sixth team we will continue with the name Multan,” quoted Tareen, while talking to local media.

Earlier in November, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated the franchise agreement with Schon Properties Broker LLC which granted franchise rights of the Multan Sultans, one of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) team.

As a result of this termination, all rights in respect of the team were reverted back to PCB.

As per PCB, the termination was brought about due to Schon Properties Broker LLC inability to meet its financial obligations under the Agreement.

PCB confirms that the fourth edition of PSL will go ahead as planned with six teams and the same number of matches. The Board shall take complete responsibility of all player and coach contracts. Pending further updates, the team shall be referred to as “The Sixth Team” of PSL.
