Fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games: Pakistan swimming squad fails to qualify in most categories

Pakistani swimming squad including male and female have failed to impress and their poor show marred them even to qualify the heats for the various categories finals in the ongoing 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games being played at different venues in the City Olympic Village at Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on Saturday.
The male and female swimmers did not move on further due to poor timing in their respective heats and failed to qualify for the finals and the same was the case with Tennis where none of the Pakistani players could make even into the second rounds of the Men singles, Women singles, Men doubles, Women doubles, and Men and Women mixed doubles.
Pakistan's Ambareen Masih had a hat-trick on Friday when she got three medals - one each in the traditional, classic free and Alysh Classic wrestling wherein Benish Khan won two bronze medals in the same belt wrestling event, Humaira Ashiq and Maryum got one medal each in the same discipline.
Saturday was a barren day for Pakistan as far as the hunt for medal is concerned. In the swimming event Muhammad Yahya Khan recorded his best time of 27.41sec in the Men 50 meter Backstroke and got first position in the heat but he failed to qualify because the fixed qualification time was 25.00sec. Another Pakistan swimmer Muhammad Hamza got fourth position with his heat time 33.44sec in the Men 50m Breaststroke.
The swimming team of Pakistan comprising Muhammad Yahya Khan, Muhammad Hamza Malik, Faruukh Shehzad and Waqas Hussain got eight positions in the 4X100m free style relay while Bisma failed to qualify the heat in the 50m Backstroke due to her poor performance. In the 50m backstroke Pakistan's Bisma Khan got third position in the heat with her clock time 31.31sec, another Jehnaara Nabi got seventh position in the heat with clock time 35.18sec. In the Women 100m Butterfly Pakistan's Aisha Mishael Ayub got six positions in the heat with her clock time 1.08.36sec, the poor performer of the heat.
In the Men's 100m Butterfly Heat Pakistan Farrukh Shahzad got third position in the heat with his clock time 1.03.69sec and Pakistani team got eight positions in Men's 4X100 Freestyle Relay with a clock time 4.01.87sec. During the event, talking to media men Mohammed Omar Mohd Bedour of Jordan after Jordan finishing fourth in Heat of the Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay said that the team's overall performance was good. "We have a young team here, so I hope we do better next time, but it's a good experience to be swimming in this tournament. Also I think I did my best time in the 100m Freestyle. My split was pretty good," he added.
About Jordon's history in qualifying for competitions at the Olympic, he said, "We always go to these events. Each Olympics we send two or three swimmers, but they all go through as wild cards. It's a first time we get an official qualification, celebrating his 17th birthday on Saturday," Jordanian swimmer said and added, "I will try my level best to get something better for my country out of Olympic competitions."
In the opening day of the Kickboxing apart from Maaz Khan in the 75kg all the other lost in the first round. Maaz Khan recorded victory against Mohammadi Rohollah of Afghanistan by 2-0 in Full Body Contact Quarter-finals and will play his medal fight on Monday while Liaqat Ali of Pakistan moved into semi-final in 51kg low kick boxing to be played on September 25.
Three other lost in the opening round. Kyrgyzstan Kalbaev Chyngyz beat Pakistan Abdul Samad 11-1 in Men's Point fighting in 69kg, Amannow Mekan of Turkmenistan beat Muhammad Asghar on points in 67kg. Muhammad Bilal was beaten by Rajabi Dawran of Afghanistan by 2-0 in Men Low Kick 63kg weight.
Pakistan Olympic Wrestling Games team have already reached Ashgabat with five of the Wrestlers comprising Bilal in 57kg, Abdul Wahab in 65kg, Inam Muhammad in 86kg, Shoukat Ali in 66kg and Muhammad Umair in 98kg weights will compete in the event.
In the last event of the Belt Wrestling Maryum lost the medal fight against Muzamindin Merrim of Kyrgyzstan. Pakistan is struggling at overall 19 positions with two gold, three silver medals and 15 bronze medals. Host Turkmenistan with 182 medal including 69 gold, 51 silver and 62 bronze medals, Iran is on second position with 72 medals including 17 gold, 14 silver and 41 bronze, Uzbekistan at third with 80 medal, 16 gold, 20 silver and 44 bronze medals while Thailand slipped to fourth position from second with 48 medal, 15 gold, 14 silver and 19 bronze medals. The snooker 15-Red singles will start today. Muhammad Sajjad will face Issara Kachaiwong of Thailand in the first singles and Asjad Iqbal of Pakistan will face Basil Alshajjar of Philippines.
