If rumors are to be believed, Microsoft is bringing an exciting new change for gamers as its next Xbox One console will come in with no disc drive and that too at an affordable price.

A report by a tech blogger Paul Thurrott claimed that Microsoft is working on a new Xbox One console for 2019 and it won’t have any disc drive. However, for this console, the user should have a large hard drive to fill in all those games.

The disc-less Xbox will be a part of Microsoft’s current generation of Xbox consoles, instead of its upcoming Scarlett family of consoles that will hit markets at a later date. The new Xbox One will be a lighter-weight option of fans who haven’t purchased an Xbox One or are looking for newer console.

PS4 still thrives as world’s most popular gaming console

As per Mashable, the report stated that if a user already has a collection of physical games for their Xbox One, Microsoft will have a ‘disc-to-digital’ program to accommodate them. This program will enable users to trade in their discs for digital copies/download codes at Microsoft Stores.

The new disc-less Xbox will reportedly be priced at $200, which is around $100 less than the already prevailing model. Though the time frame for the new Xbox One console has not been set yet, but Thurrott reports that it will launch sometime in Spring 2019, reported Business Insider.
