Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar has urged officials of the Association of Builders and Developers to extend co-operation with the local bodies for the uplift and streamlining the city's infrastructure, particularly construction of high-rise buildings. Talking to a delegation from ABAD on Wednesday, he said the process of demolition of bungalows and building small-sized portions in streets must stop because it creates infrastructural problems. All construction activities should to be carried out in accordance with the existing infrastructure.
According to the mayor, Karachi's residential areas face water shortages because 70 percent of the city's water supply goes to the industries. He did not give details.
