RECORDER REPORT: KSE close of day

KARACHI : Bullish trend was witnessed at the Karachi share market on Monday where KSE-100 index surged by 154.30 point

The market opened on a strong positive note and the index breached 12,000 psychological level to hit 12,212.31 points intra-day high level on the back of across the board buying mainly by local investors and institutions.

Trading activities also improved significantly as the volumes at ready counter increased to 196.299 million shares as compared to 130.416 million shares traded on last trading session.

Total market capitalization increased by Rs 42 billion to Rs 3.158 trillion. Of the total 349 active stocks, 195 closed in positive and 79 in negative while the value of 75 stocks remained unchanged.

Jahangir Siddiqui Co was the volume leader with 32.148 million shares and gained Re 0.10 to close at Rs 7.56 followed by DG Khan Cement that increased by Re 0.61 to close at Rs 24.83 with 12.625 million shares. Lafarge Pakistan closed at Rs 2.29, up Re 0.06 with 9.829 million shares.

Indus Dyeing and Nestle Pakistan were the highest gainers increasing by Rs 20.14 and Rs 16.43 to close at Rs 423.19 and Rs 3337.06 respectively while Unilever Pak and National Refinery were the worst losers declining by Rs 18.94 and Rs 3.05 to close at Rs 5297.56 and Rs 257.44 respectively.
