Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 117.77 points (0.93 percent) to 12,823.18.

The broad-based S&P 500 rose 12.50 (0.94 percent) to 1,338.04, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 27.52 (0.96 percent) to 2,887.20.

The Labor Department reported ahead of the opening that the economy added a net 243,00 jobs last month, much better than the average analyst forecast of 155,000, bringing the overall jobless rate down to 8.3 percent.
