The Ministry of Water and Power has so far released an amount of Rs 53.16 billion to the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on account of land compensation to the affectees of Mangla Dam Upraising project. According to the documents, the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has released an amount of Rs 53.16 billion to the government of AJK on account of compensation of land, built-up property, and other compensations (link roads, confidence building measures, compensation of economic loss, relocation of utilities and replacement works of houses, etc) in AJK area.
The documents further revealed that in Punjab area, WAPDA has released an amount of Rs 0.121 billion on account of compensation of land, built-up property and trees for Tehsil Kallar Syedan, district Rawalpindi, in October 2016, Rs 0.579 billion (approx) are yet to be released for the affectees of Tehsil Gujjar Khan and Suhawa, districts Rawalpindi and Jhelum respectively.
