NA body demands withdrawal on rise in petroleum prices

This resolution was unanimously made by the committee in its meeting held in the Conference Room of OGDCL House here on Wednesday.

Chairman, Standing Committee, Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai presided over the meeting, says a press release issued by National Assembly Secretariat here.

The committee showed its serious concern on the increase in the petroleum prices and observed that such action has made the lives of people miserable.

The committee expressed displeasure to the Management of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) for not providing the brief to the committee members over agenda item No. 1 i.e. (Discussions on OGDCL's Inquiry Reports regarding embezzlement/irregularities) under the pretext that it is confidential.

The committee directed the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources to hold inquiry in this respect and take action against the responsible within three days.

The committee was also not satisfied with the replies of OGDCL Management over other agenda items and decided to convene another meeting in the third week of current month on the same agenda items.

The meeting was attended by Jamshaid Ahmed Dasti, Nawab Muhammad Yusuf Talpur, Ch. Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Rana Afzaal Hussain, Mir Ahmdan Khan Bugti, Begum Shehnaz Sheikh, Dr. Donya Aziz and Syed Haider Ali Shah MNAs, and Senior Officers of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources and OGDCL.
