Sindh government taking measures to improve labour laws: Ghani
Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Labour and Human Resources Senator Saeed Ghani on Friday said that the provincial government was taking drastic measures to improve labour laws to ensure a comfortable working environment to industrialists and the workers.
Addressing a seminar titled 'Social Security' organised by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at Federation House, he said that the healthcare facilities for the working class were inevitable because healthy workforce was in the utmost benefit of the industry in particular and for the country in general.
Ghani said that since he was also a trade unionist he was well aware of the problems of the industrialists and the workers and wanted to add his input for the industrial revamp because healthy industrial units were the backbone of country's progressing economy.
He said that Sindh government had raised the minimum wages and taken steps for workers' safety, health and insurance cover and these steps would inevitably support the industry and the industrialists.
He said that the business community was lacking representation in Sindh Labour Department and they should name a representative to fill the gap, he said. A large number of businessmen, workers' representatives and leading industrialists also attended the seminar.
