Zulfi Bukhari’s appointment challenged in Supreme Court

The appointment of Zulfi Bukhari, who is special assistant on overseas Pakistanis to Prime Minister Imran Khan, was challenged on Wednesday in the Supreme Court (SC).

In his petition, petitioner Adil Chatta argued that since Bukhari had dual nationality he could not be appointed as the assistant to PM. The petitioner also argued that Bukhari was currently under investigation by the National Accountability Bureau, local media reported.

The petitioner requested the SC to remove Bukhari from his post, which he assumed on Monday. Chatta named PM Khan and cabinet division as respondents in his petition.

The close friend of the premier was appointed on September 18 by him as his Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development. Bukhari has the status of a minister of state.
