Veteran Bollywood actor DilipTahil has been arrested for allegedly driving a vehicle in an intoxicated state and for injuring two passengers in an auto rickshaw.

The actor was reportedly drunk when he rammed his car into an auto rickshaw, injuring two passengers inside it. The collision caused one of the rickshaw passengers, Gandhi, a severe jolt to her back and neck.

Gandhi and the other passenger, Chugh, got off the auto rickshaw and saw the car driver trying to flee. However, the actor could not escape as the street was crowded due to Ganesh otsav immersion procession, Indian media reported.

The victims approached the car and asked the driver to step out, after which they realised it was Tahil. “We noted down the number of the car. Meanwhile, Tahil started arguing and pushed us. Chugh called the police, [after which] they reached the spot and took all of us to the station,” Gandhi said in her statement.

The police confirmed that the driver was indeed Tahil, who was also injured. Gandhi and Tahil were taken for a medical check-up, after which the police arrested Tahil for causing injury due to rash and negligent driving.

A senior police inspector confirmed that Tahil was arrested and later granted bail. He also said that Tahil refused to let us take a blood sample so that it could be tested for alcohol traces. However, he was visibly drunk.

Dilip Tahil has worked in prominent movies like ‘Ishq’, ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’, ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ among others.
