Pakistan Tehreek-e- Insaaf’s (PTI) newly-elected Sindh Assembly MNA Imran Ali Shah, who beat up a citizen, Daud Chauhan, in the middle of a road in Karachi, was forgiven by him after the MPA visited his home and apologized.

The MPA visited Chuhan's house on Tuesday night and apologized for his behavior. He was accompanied by PTI's Karachi chapter president Firdous Shamim Naqvi, local media reported.

“I cannot let anyone who comes to my door, leave empty-handed,” Chauhan said while forgiving the PTI MPA. Chauhan added that the matter is now in the court of PTI Chief Imran Khan, “I hope he will do justice,” he said.

“We had resolved the matter where after Shah slapped me. I'm a poor man I don't wish to pursue any legal action,” Chauhan said while talking to the media. However, he said that he still [doesn't] understand why Shah beat him. “Shah is wealthy and powerful and has dozens of guards,” he added.

Soon after the video of the incident went viral on social media, PTI leadership issued a show-cause notice to the MPA, saying his action was 'unacceptable.' He has been summoned by PTI committee to give his statement.

Chauhan’s son also posted a long message on his Facebook and revealed that his father is an old friend of Naqvi and Najeeb Haroon. "Because of these two people he [Shah] entered our house and we gave him the opportunity to apologize," he wrote.

The MPA had earlier defended his action in a video statement, saying, “Being a responsible citizen and a member of provincial assembly I have more responsibility towards my people, the viral clip is half truth and misleading. I cannot turn a blind eye on someone doing injustice to a citizen for any reason.” He claimed that Chauhan was being rude to another motorist.

Shah was caught on video slapping Chauhan multiple times during a heated argument in the middle of National Stadium Road in Karachi. The video, which went viral, showed that Dr Shah was accompanied by his armed guards, who also threatened the man.
