Playing its role in fighting fake news, WhatsApp will now label the forwarded messages sent to users through which chats would be much easier to follow.

WhatsApp announced on its blogpost on Tuesday that in an attempt to curb false and misinformation spreading, it will now indicate which messages are forwarded to the user. This extra content will help make one-on-one and group chat easier to follow, as said the blog.

As per WhatsApp, this new upgrade will help people see if the message was originally written by the sender or they have forwarded someone else’s message. The label that basically applies to all types of content will have a tiny ‘Forwarded’ tag on top of the forwarded message.

“WhatsApp cares deeply about your safety. We encourage you to think before sharing messages that were forwarded,” the blog reads. In order to have this feature, the user should have to have the latest supported version of the app on their phones.

WhatsApp further reminded people that they still have the option to report scam or block a contact. “As a reminder, you can report spam or block a contact in one tap and can always reach out to WhatsApp directly for help,” wrote the Facebook-owned app.
